#nanomaterial – Anses calls for the most comprehensive definition possible

In a short press release published on its website, the French National Agency for Health Safety (Anses) summarizes the content of its response to the European consultation on the definition of the term “nanomaterial”, without revealing the full content yet.

It should not “restrict the number and nature of objects that will ultimately be considered nanomaterials” and instead Anses advocates for the most inclusive definition possible, which does not exclude nanoplastics, emulsions and lipids of nanoscale. It also underlines, as did AVICENN, the lack of scientific basis for the size thresholds (1-100 nm).
