The Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) has just published the final version of its opinion on Hydroxyapatite (nano), used in cosmetic dermal (skin care) and oral (toothpaste, mouthwash) products.

It concludes that hydroxyapatite-nano (PAH-nano) in needle form is of concern in terms of potential toxicity and therefore PAH-nano in needle form should not be used in cosmetic products due to potential risk to the consumer.
