At a CPVADAA working group meeting, EFSA presented its opinion on E171 to the Member States and the European Commission presented its proposal for a ban on E171 in Europe. The Member States will probably meet again after the summer to vote on the modalities
and the timetable for the entry into force of the ban – with a right of review by the Council and the European Parliament afterwards, a necessary step before the ban can be finally adopted.
