How to recruit more employees into the Epinano cohort?

In an article published today by the Journal of Anthropology of Knowledge based on a survey conducted in 2019-2020, two sociologists highlight the role of institutional and organizational tensions in the implementation of EpiNano, the epidemiological monitoring of workers potentially exposed to nanomaterials. The objectives of Santé Publique France (more focused on research and epidemiology) are not necessarily in phase with those of the Ministry of Labor (more focused on the surveillance of occupational risks, carried out in the field by the regional labor inspectors – Mirt).

Following questions from AVICENN about the state of the system at the end of 2021, Santé publique France indicated that, in view of the low number of participating establishments (less than 20) and registered workers (less than 400), the company Ipsos has been mandated since last September to recruit establishments and monitor the data collection process. The results are expected during 2022.
In the absence of a significant increase of new “voluntary” recruits, AVICENN pleads to make the registration of companies in EpiNano automatic as soon as they fill in a r-nano declaration for the concerned nanomaterials (carbon nanotubes, titanium dioxide and/or silica nanoparticles at this stage).

Conference
  • Spectacle Art & Science – When science changes as it passes from mouth to mouth
  • A unique participatory experience centered on the human factory of knowledge, where two fascinating worlds meet: nanomedicine, with its nanoparticles and cellular nanovectors, and quantum physics, with its superimposed states and complex systems.
  • Organizers: Centre National de Compétences en Nanosciences (C’Nano), in collaboration with the Commissariat à l’Énergie Atomique (CEA), the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IPP) and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS).
  • Speakers: Florence Gazeau, academician, physicist, research director at CNRS, and Charles Antoine, PhD in physics, lecturer at Sorbonne University, and Albert Moukheiber, PhD in neuroscience.
