Because of the adverse lung and liver effects of nano silver, the U.S. National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOSH) has established an occupational exposure limit value (OELV) recommendation for silver nanoparticles of 0.9 μg/m3 over an 8-hour weighted average concentration.
